Since you're looking at awards so far out - I'd book it now with the non-optimal times and routings, knowing that AA will change itineraries several times before you actually travel. When they do make the changes, it's easy to call them and ask them to give you the routing you want, because you're not happy with their 'new' itinerary. I've done this several times with great success.
