UK passport holder in Ukraine needs to travel to Italy
I tried to catch a flight from Lviv Ukraine to Rome Italy and was denied boarding as the Ryanair ground crew seemed to think I was just going to visit and not for anything important, the forms I filled in as required by the Italian government stated otherwise and they would have seen that if they had bothered to read what I put down on one of the forms in the "reason for travel" part.
I am a British citizen and passport in Ukraine needing to go to Italy (reasons given below)
I need to go and visit my ailing 82 year old mother so my Sister can take a break from doing it, I also need to revive my out of date Italian permanent residency along with changing my old address in the province of Adt where my residency was registered to Scansano in the province of Grosseto.
There seems to be a lot of confusion here in Ukraine and the ryanair ground crew seem to be making it up as they go along just to play it safe.
I have good reason to go to Italy, I have family in Italy, I need to do essential things and I'm prepared to do "self quarantine" for 14 days if required.
Could any one shed some light on the whole situation, am I missing something here, can Ukrainian staff at Ryanir really deny me the right to fly even though I filled in the forms that the Italian Consulate in Kyiv, Ukraine gave me the download links to?
I really need to get to Italy but don't want to go through dealing with ignorant untrained individuals that don't even read the documentation i was asked to compiled when they ask to see it.
I tried to call the helpline which was a wast of time as no one answered and I sent an email (not holding my breath for a reply)
I was told that Ryanair were not correct or legal by denying me boarding, is this correct, can they do this to me if I am in my rights to fly?
These trying times are so confusing!
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you
Tom
