It's close to the beach and bay. You are paying for the location more than the actual hotel. Your kids will have a blast guaranteed. The Bahia hotel (over the bridge and across the street) has some seals swimming in a pool. You can see them for free. Just walk over. The seal pool is in the parking lot next to the street. You won't feel like you are sneaking in. It's designed for public access.

thrilled to see seals every day! For a category 3 the location seems like a steal. I'm used to category 3's being a hyatt place in a suburb. My kids are too small (6 months and 2 years) to enjoy the actual ocean beach so the bay beaches look right up our alley, and very walkable too. Hoping getting chairs at the pool isn't an issue and there is reduced capacity at the hotel right now.
On others comments on resort fees. If we had a paid stay the $78/day for parking and "resort" fees would indeed be a bit offensive. Luckily that hyatt promo is coming at perfect time for us to burn some points. The resort fee also includes beach gear, kayak, and paddleboard rentals, so unlike some properties I stay at these days, I feel like I'm getting
something, no matter how minor.
