are shrimp still alive if they’re lightly steamed?

the gross part was how I ate half of the second or third shrimp and had the lower half on my plate (not sure how that happened). After eating other food, I realized that the poor shrimp was still alive and kicking its little legs despite not having its head. Sad! So I just ended up smushing it with chopsticks although in hindsight it was probably still alive. Blah.

In Shanghai in 1998, I went to restaurants where male diners had their cell phones (still behind in USA) and I went to one place where the servers were on roller skates. Fun gimmicks.

although I know food in China is good, I still prefer Chinese food in San Francisco, as I’ve eaten it here my whole life.
