I would like to know everyone’s opinion on this: are hotels right in keeping their executive lounges closed?

My opinion is no, I think now that bars and restaurants have reopened in the UK and Europe the lounges should reopen as well. Those who have worked hard to earn their diamond status and people who buy executive rooms with lounge access deserve their drinks and food.

Let me take Hilton Canary Wharf as an example because that’s the hotel I frequently use. They don’t plan to reopen their lounge until November hiding behind government guidelines and low occupancy due to business guests not coming. They will offer guests “refreshments” in their room instead of lounge or drinks in the bar.

Now, I’m not happy with this. The main reason I go to hotels with a lounge is to socialise. I’m not too bothered about food, but I like to make my coffee in the morning, have a coke in the afternoon and drinks in the evening. If they think self service is too dangerous they can serve me.

I just cancelled a week’s stay for this reason, even though it was very cheap, I want them to know that if they don’t respect leisure guests they can expect many more cancellations.
Yep, completely agree...... I have a stay at CW for mid August and I was wondering about the lounge situation there, I have my yearly Thames walk still to do......that said DT Greenwich is half the price for pretty much the same product and next door to where I start my walk......with no lounge or gym/sauna open there is no point.
Like you I like the social aspect of the executive lounge too, I’ve met and made some great friends over the years in these places.
It’s a shame , let’s hope they open again soon.
