As long as you book SQ flights (not codeshare or operated by LH or GA) you will be fine. Transfer between SQ flights are allowed at SIN. I suggest you book with SQ / on SQ webpage.
You're right, but unfortunately, not all city pairs are approved for transfer at SIN as noted above
