So, I called Varig in USA (as I will be transitting there on way to Brasil) ... stupid CSR told me she couldn't issue VARIG Brasilian Airpass unless I FLEW to Brasil on Varig ... WRONG !!! She told me to buy it from UA

UA 1K Int'l desk was most helpful ^ - would sell BAP but would take UA Travel Voucher (read from regs) ..but understandably not a Varig MCO .. she couldn't believe Varig would not take it nor sell the Airpass....

OK..so call Varig GSA/Rez line in Bangkok... and they say " Sure !! no problem..faxor bring in MCO and we'll issue Airpass"... so we'll see how I go when I rock up there next week...
