There are currently limited options to get into Australia from the UK. SQ, if it runs the route, is probably the best option. Another one of the routes still open is via Doha, currently a real hotspot. There will be others, and I suspect if you plan to return to Australia anyway you may as well get it over with. I can't imagine travelling with a 9 month old these days is much fun. Good luck.
