The insurance issue will kill much of our travel.
I looked far and wide and came up with
Seven Corners. They are specifically advertising plans that cover COVID-19 treatment up to $100,000. It’s an American company, but they do cover Canadians traveling to the US or the rest of the world and have a Canadian underwriter. You can do either an annual plan with them, or a single-trip plan. I plan to get their plan before heading to the US to drop my kids at college. (I also plan to use their coverage for my kids rather than our usual, Manulife, since Manulife doesn’t cover COVID.) I stupidly forgot to verify that they will provide coverage even if we travel against the travel advisories of our governments.
If someone gets in touch with them, and/or buys one of their plans, it may be worth reporting back here to share your experience.
