This is another case of pick your poison... we complained about slow people in security lines and now that CATSA is trying to educate them by having big screens we are slapping them..
Even if only half the infrequent flyers gets the gist of the message on the screen, its worth it to me.. they wouldn't be able to mount any other technologies with a single screen that large (unless they used a projector but the lights are too bring in most airports for that)...
Sometimes, we just have to relax about these things... Are we mad that the YOW Airport Authority has plasmas (or large LCD's) everywhere to show flight status instead of the old monitors?

Flight status information is useful and it changes all the time. CATSA's "education" about having to put your laptop in a plastic bin is fairly static and could have been delivered by a static billboard. Not a good comparison.
