Seems like lots of confusion in this thread.

There was a brief test of companions boarding with CP holders. It ended, and there has been no official policy change in that area.

However, those on the same reservation as an A-Lister should be given by the system consecutive boarding positions, allowing them to board together. Those flying on a companion pass, which have a separate PNR, currently are not, and the program as announced so far does not include companions. What happened to you was an exception made by the OPs agent, possibly since you were already pretty far back in the boarding order. Showing the companion pass card (or an A-List card) officially does nothing to change anyone's boarding position, as the policy currently exists.
