Thumbs down Marriott Closing Call Centers In Canada & San Antonio

According to a news article in St Thomas, Ontario, Canada newspaper on June 29, Marriott announced closing of call centers in Texas and Canada eliminating 480 jobs. 230 positions of those are in St Thomas. The St Thomas call center is a major Ambassador and Titanium rep site. It is also the largest employer in the town with approx 800 employees. Article seemed to indicate that some of the employees would work remotely. This center, in my opinion, was the best one I had dealt with in my many years as a Starwood and Marriott elite. It will be greatly missed for its efficiency, knowledge and helpfulness of its outstanding staff. Closing is scheduled for September.

Just received word that the Ambassadors in the St Thomas, Ontario office are NOT being terminated. Likely they will be working remotely, but no further details. Great news as this office and its staff are truly outstanding.
