Ever since the restriction at Walmart, I've been getting most of my money orders at Publix and Kroger. They're always hit and miss, depending on the cashier.
However, this past month, I've been seeing a trend where Publix is getting harder and it may be system wide.
- Most of them are now asking for a photo ID and that wasn't the case before
- Two of them I've visited, they now required a chip for anything above $500
Anyone else see these trends?
Locations near my family put up notices saying money services may require ID, and many locations have indeed been enforcing that. Supposedly corporate sent out a memo.

Doesnt Publix issue WU, which has a $500 max per MO , so asking for $1k = 2 @ $500 and 2x the fee. So Id just hit a bunch of stores for 1 @ < 500, it will take longer but get the job done or better do as I do ask for 1 MO say @ 499 and a 2nd for 499.10 (just dont ask for the 2ns till they give you the 1st, never was asked for any ID but YMMV)
They are still ID-ing for sub $500 MOs in some areas, just FYI.
