I got bumped from the 10pm to 11pm JFK-LHR a few weeks ago when the inbound 11pm aircraft went unserviceable at LHR and the alternate (3-class 777) arrived 4 hours late (they put people with connections in my seat!). Fortunately, JFK check-in u/g me to J and put me in 1D.

Summary of the flight - don't sit in 1D! Because of the aircraft tapering at the front the footrest sticks out into the isle and is painted luminous green so people don't walk into it
