You can cancel an Avios booking up to 24 hours before the first leg - so unless you need the Avios or cash back before then, there is, as you say, no incentive to do anything other than sit tight, wait and hope BA cancels, meaning you’d get your seat fee back (just remember to call for it in cash, rather than accepting a voucher).
