Even if the USA-segment is on anoher day/flight. This also applies to Star-rtw-tickets (piece concept all the way around the world).
As Rudi states, this has always been my understanding.

TLV-VIE 30 K
VIE-LHR 30 K
LHR-VIE 30 K
VIE- JFK PCS
JFK-VIE PCS
VIE-TLV PCS
One ticket 2 distinctly different rules.
The only time it was a problem for me was in STR when the connecting flight to either FRA or VIE was on a European VUSA, and then it only got me a heavy comment, no fine.
This is the same ticket and PNR and yet they written problem. I don't expect any difficulties but there it is.
