Also, our first time to Sydney from Melbourne. The Sheraton is a 100 AUD more per night than the Four Points BUT it has the lounge and supposedly a much nicer hotel. Is the Sheraton worth the difference?
Any tips on getting good rates in that part of the world for retired vacation travelers?

If you're interested I've got some vouchers for both the Sheraton and Westin in MEL which is valid on a Fri and Sun for only A$175 per room incl. GST. That's probably $70 less than the cheapest rate around.
I personally prefer the Sheraton due to the nice lounge and the great view of the city skyline. They serve a very nice afternoon tea on weekends up there and the food spread is quite decent.
I can also get you a rate of only A$205 incl. GST at the SOP in Sydney on a Fri, Sat, Sun night if you're interested. This way the difference to the 4P is not that big anymore and you'll be staying at a much nicer hotel. That's probably also about $60-80 less than their cheapest rate.
I was going to trade those coupons at "Coupon connection" sometime soon, but didn't get a chance to post it there yet. Let me know if you're interested.
