Not really worried about the phone going dead because I'd know the phone was dead when I arrived back at the hotel and would just stop by the front desk to pickup a key. Very minimal inconvenience.

Some places you can only use your digital key. Take the Hampton Inn in Renton WA. You need it to access the garage to park.
