This benefits those who have qualified and upgraded in their current year: the card naturally is valid until the end of the tier point year after qualification. They will therefore get an additional 12 months.
This does not benefit those who have re-qualified in their current year: the card expiry is not extended until the end of their current TP year, so this will merely duplicate what the extension will do anyway (it is possible BA IT will do something to correct this anomaly, but currently I have heard no plans)
Yes this is my theory too.
If you have upgraded at anytime in your current year up to today, your expiry date already showed as
- rest of current year + 1 full membership year after + end of first full month after
So for someone like
A13 upthread with a year end 8 Oct 2020 and had already upgraded to silver, the card expiry date would already have shown as 30 Nov 2021
If you have re-qualified in the current year like myself and
ThatT1Feeling your card expiry isn't updated until you get to your year end. In which case the card expiry date before today for me showed as 30 Jan 2021.
In all cases BA has merely added a year on to whatever expiry date you currently have. So:
- anyone who upgraded already in their current membership year does get an extension and will get an extra year,
- any who merely re-qualified in their current membership year does not effectively get an extension, your card expiry would have had a year added on anyway when you got to year end.
If you have neither re-qualified or upgraded in your current membership year you will just get 1 year added on to your current card expiry date.
