Like 9/11, we will see mass retirements of older aircraft types. Last time it was the 727, MD-11, DC-9, first-gen 737 . This time it’ll be the 747, 757, MD-80, A340. It makes perfect financial sense as many of these are more expensive to run, but it makes the skies (and airports) duller. I’ve been lucky to fly all versions bar -100, SP & SR, and sat both upstairs and in the nose. Her beautiful lines will be missed. RIP, my Queen.
