LATAM Airlines Group (
LTM.SN) on Wednesday said it will cease operations at its Argentine subsidiary “indefinitely,” its first major cutback since Latin America’s largest airline filed for bankruptcy protection last month. LATAM, which is based in Chile, said it will no longer fly domestically in Argentina but will maintain international flights, which will be operated by other subsidiaries.
Sounds like they'll continue to operate flights to EZE from the US (with their other subsidiaries) but you'll presumably have to connect now in SCL if you want to use LATAM to go to any other Argentinian city or connect onwards with AR from EZE.
Definitely a pain. When we went to South America last September, we used LATAM for the intra-Argentina flights because they were significantly cheaper than AR, even when having to add in baggage fees and seat selection (which would've been free on AR due to STE+).
Wonder if this will keep AR in SkyTeam since DL will still need them for routes to secondary cities not served by LATAM from SCL, GRU, or LIM.
