I didn’t have any resistance from BA regarding this and my flights were with UL. The booking confirmations and proof of cancellation was all that was required and they upgraded me to Gold status due to the associated ‘lost’ tier points I would have been awarded. So I’m sure with actual BA flights it would be a lot easier as they have the information already to hand with your booking reference numbers.
