United Flight Cancellation Notifications
I have an upcoming trip to Hilton Head Island at the end of July and had a confirmed ticket and seat on a direct United Airline flight. Over the weekend, I checked on the flight and noticed a strange notification of a "change to the flight" and that it was "waitlisted." When i contacted United, they told me that the flight was cancelled and that i "should have received a cancellation message/email. I could not find any message like that and the flight still appeared on my United account. They indicated that it was in fact canceled and they would be issuing a refund within 25-27 business days.
I understand that United and all airlines are cutting back on flight volume but the way this was (or in this case was not) communicated about a flight that is within 6 weeks seems strange. Anyone experience issues like this with United? Should i be concerned that the refund will be a struggle to get?
