it's possible that AA is banking on a few passengers canceling or no showing because of covid concerns, foreign entry requirements and whatnot. If traveling together in first for that segment is very important to you, you may want to look into flights on an alternate day. 944 the day before has plenty of F seats.

Otherwise, be prepared for the possibility of one or two of you getting involuntarily downgraded, most likely with a $300 or so voucher.
Yeah, my fear exactly. I'm not sure why AA isn't being honest with me, except maybe to kick the problem down the road (and ultimately perhaps to the agent in STT). Circumstance is frustrating since I started this whole process 10 months ago for a once every 5 year family vacation. Starting in F and having one family member end up in 30B would be a frustrating end to a vacation. I get that this is first world problems.
