Anyway, watching Moonraker from 1979 this evening - the scene in Rio with the ambulance going up the hill really marks the first time product placement is really obvious in a Bond movie (the ambulance passes billboards for 7-Up, Seiko and a brand of cigarettes). The final of the scene is the evil henchman falling out of the ambulance on a stretcher, and crashing into a BA billboard.

I've never understand why the billboard was in English in a Lusophone country...

And rather interestingly Bond flies Air France to Rio, not BA.


Bond films in general are not shy in offering promotion opportunities for anything from Avis cars to Tabasco sauce.
But Moonraker is notorious for blatant product placement: clearly BA jumped on board
