You are renting from AWS and not the hotel. I've always thought their prices are ridiculous. Go to their website to see the prices. AWSIncline.com
The hotel is built perpendicular to the lake so no room has a straight on view of the lake. You have to go to the window in the room and turn your head. I certainly would be on floor 7 or higher in any event. Only rooms that would have a pretty much straight on view of the lake would be certain rooms/suites in the lakeside cottages.
Agreed the beach is nice. Last time I was there (early September), the beach side food/drink service was quite on top of things too, and the water temp then was decent (cool, but I wouldn't say cold). Rentals are ridiculously expensive as you state, and yeah, lake views don't exist at the hotel -- it is best just to avoid a view of the parking lot, IMO. I rather enjoyed a 'third floor' 1 bedroom suite (which a TSU got me into) with some pines right out the window (if I recall, I think it was pretty much the ground floor). If one wants to spend down time in a beautiful room looking out a view, this hotel (well the tower at least) isn't really the best place at any rate for many reasons.

I've been looking at possible stays here this summer but prices seem rather ridiculous on the dates I can travel (like 400-550 $/night) and pt redemptions are high as well. For prices like that there are much much nicer and easier to get to vacation destinations I can think of.
