I made a dummy booking with a cert and it still works for me. So here it is step by step.
Open reservation by clicking on VIEW/MODIFY.
Click on EDIT ROOM.
First you'll see CURRENT BOOKING.
Scroll down to Current Room and click on UPDATE.
Then you'll get the screen below. Choose 35K points. Confirm changes - YES.
Cert will be redeposited immediately. 35K Points will be withdrawn from your account. Then you can cancel the reservation and points will also be returned immediately.

Thanks for walking me through this. However, I got as far as clicking the "Update" button. Nothing would show up afterward. I have tried changing the date and number of guests, but nothing would show up. I know there is availability on the new dates I put in because I checked before I tried to modify the reservation. I guess I might just need to call to have it canceled since I will need to call anyway to retrieve the cert if I try to cancel online before detaching it.
