Yesterday Air Asia sent me two emails (one for each the tickets that FD cancelled and I now have Credit Accounts for) saying they have extended the validity of these vouchers from 1 year to now be 2 years. I have not yet logged onto my Big Member account to see these.
Does anyone else have this? It is a new policy? I guess this is good, but being a pessimist (more so since the outbreak) does this suggest that FD are expecting even longer until we can fly with them again? As a UK citizen I guess we will not be allowed into the various South East Asian countries for holidays until the far-off distant future.
I saw all your posts about your case. Mine is fairly similar. Got a ticket cancelled in January (that was pre COVID, morning flight got cancelled). So they offered a refund, as per their normal rules for IROP (happened to me before and never had an issue to get a refund). Later in March, they offered to covert to a credit. I refused. Then they "requalified" the cancellation as Covid-cancellation and send me the same email as the one you just received. Same as you, I was told, it is like this and that's it. Take it or leave it. After pressing the issue, I finally received this
"Pertaining your enquiry for booking number: XXXXXXX, we noted that you have applied for refund and the case is in the relevant team pool now. The relevant team has sent an email to offer for a credit account on 31 March 2020 and you have replied back to maintain for a refund. Once you have replied back to maintain for refund back to original payment, the team will process accordingly as per your request. However, due to massive requests at the moment, the time needed for refund will be longer than normal which is expected to be 12 to 16 weeks after the guest has replied to the email. If you prefer a refund back to original payment, we are seeking your patience in this matter. However, if you prefer a faster process, you may reconsider credit account. We hope this will help you for better clarification"
So they are definitely trying all the trick they have in their bag to avoid giving a refund. As you, I am not based in Asia, therefore the credit is not very useful. So let's see how long it will take
