I have taken SQ1/2 between HKG and SFO before. I like this flight because it takes off at around sleep time in HKG, and I can force myself to wake up around 1 to 2pm SFO time. I can pretty much go to bed that evening by midnight. I don't get as much jet lag as taking a flight that leaves around noon in HKG and arrive SFO in the morning. I think you should consider how you fight jet lag when you choose which flight to take.
