I stayed at an Econolodge in FL a couple years ago during a double RR credit promo for Choice Hotels. I had no problems getting the 2X credits at the Quality Inns and the Comfort Inns that I stayed in, but that damn Econolodge. The workers there have no clue, like you say. They too tried to give me the Easy Choice stamps. I'm not sure how much you can blame the hotels, the workers there looked (and acted/cared) like they made about $5/hr. Obviously they don't have tons of training and re-training for a hotel that charges $40 per night. I'm sure they have to train hard enough just to get the workers to learn how to swipe a simple credit card through the reader, much less train them on how to give bonus RR credits. Rather I think it's SWA + Choice Hotels fault, they should know better and anticipate that this kind of nonsense will happen. In my case I had to keep my receipt and fax it in. A pain in the butt, but I guess that's the price you have to pay. It shouldn't be that way, that's why I no longer stay at Econolodges. That and the fact that the place was quite a dump.
