Fare Rules:
Additional charges may apply for changes in addition to any fare rules listed.
No, that is looking at a email receipt of the ticket. You need to go to united.com, log into the account of passenger and go to "My Trip", select the trip and find the link in the earlier post.
You can do this from your united account also by "find other trips" in MyTrips -- enter the trip PNR and the Passenger last name
Once you have the fare rule for the tickets, go to the Penalities section and look for "
TICKET VALIDITY OF A PARTIALLY USED TICKET", Understand this is a little complex but it is the best way to answer your question

Cancel reservations before the scheduled departure time or TICKET HAS NO VALUE.
Does this mean it has no value at all or ticket still have value since we didn't cancel.
As long as you have not cancelled and make the change before the next schedule flight departure, the ticket is still valid

Waiver: All change fees waived for tickets issued on or before March 2, 2020
Original ticket must be issued on or before: March 2, 2020
Original travel dates March 3, 2020 - May 31, 2020
Since travel started before 3 March, that waiver does not apply but you are allowed a free change on the return portion of the trip if done before 30 June 2020.
