Just curious...

One thing that probably works well is the local culture that's infused into the episodes.

aloha
I've been watching the show - an old friend is on it - and IMO it's ok for TV...

But I was wondering about how the locals feel about Honolulu being portrayed so crime ridden (underage prostitution rings, decapitations, thefts in high priced hotels, etc)... I wouldn't imagine this show could do any serious damage in the tourism sector but on the other hand, it could be argued that viewers might be put off spending their vacation dollars in Honolulu/Waikiki.

Watching this show also made me wonder how much production is evident in Waikiki. There are now 3 shows being shot there, I think... are you now besieged by grip trucks and honeywagons and movie cops detouring your commute like we have here in L.A.?

(I've enjoyed having 3 day weekends at the Royal Hawaiian - it's an easy flight from LAX and it's good in terms of AA miles and SPG points - but I wouldn't want to be there and feel like I'm on a backlot!)

Just curious.

And I agree with you Slippahs, the local culture element is very interesting - and your stamp of approval shows to me that the writers must have gotten some things right. Cool.
