I’d say it had shifted...before COVID-19. Right now more people are concerned with that than being green. Hence all the “green” cleaning sprays being readily available and Clorox spray nowhere to be found.
You’re right, it’s been stated that it seems to be a low risk of getting COVID-19 from surfaces. But that doesn’t mean no risk, so like the other poster said I’m pretty sure for the near term at least many people would rather not rub something all over their body that came from a container that someone else had used.
I was previously in the “whatever” camp. But if I stay in a hotel before there’s a vaccine, I certainly won’t be using the toiletry dispensers.
