So I called again after nobody called me back. And was transferred to the front desk supervisor, who indeed confirmed that E-Gift cards are accepted. I asked him to send me a written confirmation so that I wouldn't have to keep explaining myself to front desk staff who may not be as well informed. He politely said that wouldn't be possible but he would send an email internally so all the staff were aware. I have the names of the 2 supervisors who keep rotating, so I think it was an honest attempt to be helpful.
I do wonder though, the confidence in which the first 2 staff members state that electronic gift cards are not accepted makes you wonder if they are trained to put people off.
thanks for reporting back.
yes the front desk folks are definitely trained to mislead people.
i don’t understand why they don’t like GCs. Does Marriott HQ not pay the hotel in full when redeeming GCs?
