IMO the approach should be based on common sense and given current numbers you are far more likely to catch smth at your local home depot than in EU countries but that's just my view...
Most if not all companies use "CDC advisories" as gospel, simply because it provides legal cover.
I even pointed out to my HR department that if you test negative you could come out of quarantine early. HR simply stated that "safety must come first" and you "have to go through the entire quarantine period". When I pointed out that it makes no sense, they simply said: "who are you to argue with state and national guidelines??".
So yeah, if you are retiree or self-employed you can do whatever you want. Not the rest of us.
