Is there anything stopping me from doing this:
Book LAX-HKG-BKK ticket
Book HKG-PEK ticket within 8 hours of arrival
At HKG, go through transit formalities and cancel/abandon HKG-BKK and board HKG-PEK ?

(mainland authorities will still impose a mandatory 14-day quarantine)
