If you and the mods will forgive the observation: Pausanias just revealed previously unseen depths. That aside, are we to take you seriously about your companions at The Beverly Wilshire? If so, the depths are abyssal in scope.
Now... back to the OP's question:
1) Amanpulo. Our first truly luxury experience, and we have returned many times. It has varied between great and truly spectacular, but will always be special.
2) Amanbagh. A spectacular experience in every way.
3) Awasi Atacama.
4) Amankora. The very best of what Aman can do, and even more impressive, they did this just 6 months ago.
5) Earth Lodge, South Africa.
And a couple bonus, random picks. Adrere Amallal. We went many years ago, before the decline. It wasn't lux, but it was amazing. And had date soufflé. Fogo Island Inn. Not just out of patriotism, it actually does deserve to be on lists like this. It is that good. And even more random: RC, Dubai, Financial District: punched way way above their weight in terms of service. Very impressive. Despite some bizarre requests made just before the travel apocalypse (covid-19).
