But if the $300 credit was used for groceries and gas, why would $300 of later travel spending not earn points? The rule, as I understand it, is that reimbursed travel spending does not earn points. Perhaps that rule could be applied to groceries and gas, but it seems convoluted to apply it to travel spend that is not reimbursed.
