1. Memorial weekend stay in Aloft hotel (Ocean City): worked with no problems, the manager had to input her details and amount was deducted.
2. This weekend, didn't read the fine print and paid for a pre paid stay and hence was not eligible.
3. Now trying to book a room in AC Washington DC for 2 weeks time. Called the front desk, they initially denied gift cards could even be used but upon explaining it is a Marriott gift card, she stated only physical gift cards could be used. When I pointed out the terms and conditions she said the hotel can decide for themselves if they accept electronic gift cards....any one encountered difficulty with AC hotel chain or a situation like this before?
Plan to call tomorrow and speak to a manger during business hours. Will keep you posted!
When you call or talk to them, make sure you request full name and position of the manager, and state that the conversation is being recorded because you will need the evidence to dispute your gift card with Marriott HQ. That ought to get their attention.
