The customer preference for single-use toiletry bottles is the issue.

Marriott management would be remiss in declining to consider the totality of the circumstances in evaluating whether this seemingly cost-saving policy is functioning as anticipated, in this day and age.
The mouldy wall dispensers give customer perception that the room is not cleaned properly.
Lower end brands might not really worry about this, however the higher end brands will.
And for danger of glass/ ceramic/ stone dispenser breaking, I guess they can use hard plastic that can take the abuse of industrial dishwasher.
(using dark color dispenser have the advantage of it will not become yellow overtime however it shows any hard water marks very easy)
