We've seen this trend with the plastic straws and plastic bottle things (that get stuck on turtles) and many others. Some were adamantly pro, most went along with it as it wasn't a big deal and it was helping the planet in some capacity and
there were some people losing their mind about it; there was a small minority of people who were also purposely polluting after the EPA regulations... That wasn't a stand that aged well at all.
I believe it is greatly important to take all the small green steps we can. Even if they are pretty small. I do many small things that hopefullyhhelp a little bit.
But as an example, I really really dislike paper straws. However, either I don't get a straw a straw altogether, or I accept them..I don't stay away from chains only offering paper straws, or try to seek out chains that offer plastic straws. It does not actually move my purchase behaviour. Only the number of straws I get in a year.
I agree the tide is shifting, but that is still more about the overall green than the individual policies. So the high minded ideals and mission statements are still the key driver here. And then of course not being caught in being the decidedly opposite of green anywhere.
