Marriott management would be remiss in declining to consider the totality of the circumstances in evaluating whether this seemingly cost-saving policy is functioning as anticipated, in this day and age.
The customer preferences can basically be split in three, "anti bigger containers", "Pro bigger containers", and "Whatever"
Not looking at internet or social media opinions, but purchasing behaviour, my best guess is that 90+ percent of guests fall in the whatever group. If I am wrong, you'll see Marriott changing, but I doubt it will happen. Convenience of location and price will far beat the fear of the bigger soap dispensers, or the fear of sending too much plastic in to the environment.
