Unless you’re based in the U.K., Finland or Spain Oneworld has a major handicap versus Star and Skyteam when competing for intra-European travel. Having to transit at the eastern, western or southern extreme of the continent makes no sense unless you’re going longhaul and in one of those directions. The added need for transit security at Heathrow is an extra nuisance. The ex-EU fares are there for a reason.
Don't even get me started about how much of a disadvantage flying BA from West Africa is....most expensive fares, oldest airplanes, worst food etc....I'm fortunate I am able to maintain my status by combining travel with Long Haul flights via Qatar Airways for trips to Middle East/Asia and occasionally London, in lieu of 'double' tier points due to the connect in Doha
