Ah nearly a decade, time goes so quickly. I still think the differentiated thresholds were fair. Ultimately, those of us based in continental Europe get no Amex, no 2-4-1, no Tesco whatever, no GGL events invites, and it was a good way for BA to convince people to do the often geographically counter-intuitive schlep via London as opposed to more logical and convenient changes elsewhere.
I should add that it makes no difference to me personally because despite being based there, I make the GGL/CCR thresholds amply each year, and in my specific case have very good reason to prefer travelling via London, but I still think that the whole "scandal" was a typical FT idiosyncrasy based on the various non-continent-based FTers who were gloating about registering as one, whilst I have no doubt that 99%+ of members based in continental Europe were just that.
