If I am traveling alone on the Viewliner, I ask the attendant to make the upper bed to sleep in. That way I can climb down and use the biffy if needed and also sit down before or after bed.

This could be a problem on rough track, but has only bothered me once, and that was on the Cardinal between Cincinnati and Indianapolis. Daze
