747SP is actually smaller than the 772 and A340. Just imagine the power it had with those 4 engines!
Though the 777 is not quite as fast, the 747SP and GE90-94B 777-200ER are remarkably similar in performance, configuration and weights.

No kidding! The 74L had a FL450 service ceiling... rather lonely airspace for commercial flight, especially in that era!

LH's D-ABTD began its service as part of LH's 747 fleet in 1990, transferred to Condor in 1993, back to LH in 1996, then taken out of service in 2012. Last shot I found online is from 2014 taken at MHV with its engines gone and other parts stripped.
UA's N188UA was delivered in 1992 and served until 2005. It next went to Corsair, then briefly was leased to Garuda for about 3 months in late 2010 and then has been back at Corsair as F-HSEA was flying as late as March 2020.
Last flight showing was from FDF (Martinque) to ORY landing 25 March 2020.
