I didn't want to name the property initially because I was hoping the issue would be resolved by now, but the property is asserting that they are "forced to follow the new law" rather than honor the T&Cs, which is not only incorrect but dishonest. I understand the burdens that cancellations put on properties like this, but these laws (and hotels' willingness to follow them) constitute an expropriation of guests' property. Even if I do eventually receive a refund, I am being denied the time value of money for 18 months on the rate for the multiple pavilions we'd booked, and giving Vlad Doronin an interest-free loan for the same term, without any real security or recourse.
As Goodmorning2U noted, Amanzoe is the only property on our Greek itinerary that has refused to issue a refund. When Marriott does better by its customers than Aman, it's really quite disappointing.
Did you book via a TA? See my post above. If you are within the cancellation window the T&C of your booking trump any kind of new National Covid law. Pacta sunt servanda. Let alone that many of these national laws are not even legal in terms of EU directives.
