I went to a Chipotle that had recently opened in the last week or so. The terminal is customer-facing and appeared permanently mounted that way too. The receipt printer was also customer-facing. Unfortunately, it was swipe only. It had the same NCR screen as Burger King before they turned everything on.
I walked by my local one tonight and they apparently have cards inside their terminal's chip slot now (as well as customer side placement of the terminal itself). Sounds like the repositioning might be more due to the pandemic and less due to them about to enable EMV and/or contactless, but we'll see.
