For anyone who reads this thread in the future, please do not book with GoToGate, Go to Gate, GTG, G-T-G.
I had a reservation touching Guangzhou in early March 2020 and requested to cancel it in February 2020. The Chinese carrier already had a fee-free refund policy in place at that time due to coronavirus. However, THREE MONTHS later in May 2020 when I received an email confirmation from GTG that the refund was about to process to my method of payment, the amount was 30 EUR less than what I paid. When I called to ask why, I was told they charge a 30 EUR handling fee for all refunds. Indeed their website says this and a quick search of the web shows people complaining about this many years back.
Also, multiple versions of their customer service email addresses, which had been working as late as April, are not working for me now in May 2020, and an email that did not bounce was only replied to with an automated message saying my email had not been registered and to send a message through their website. At least their Indian call center is still working.
I consider myself a seasoned flight booker with hundreds of personal flights booked in past few years, and have used OTA's including the big American ones and smaller ones like edreams, cheapoair etc. and have generally not had to deal with stuff like this. I've read people posting here not use to OTA's. Finally, lesson learned.
