Cost cutting? I think BA's catering is similarly reduced, but other airlines are taking a different approach.
I don't have a crystal ball to say how long this will last, but if the demand recovery will be slow, who knows - maybe a few months or several months.
Since this is known at the time of booking and effective at the time these fares are on sale, AC could argue this is the level of service that should be expected.
